Dynamic Data Auditing Made Simple

Speaker: Tim Venditti

Summary: Over the past several years, the need to audit the data changes in your onsite database applications has grown. Whether you’re confronted by rules from Sarbanes–Oxley, FDA computer systems validation, or any other rules or requirements that require you to track your data’s history, the task can be easier than you think. We will go over a simple solution using nothing more than a uniform, lightweight trigger and the XML data type to track the history of your data. We will also discuss the benefits and challenges for creating a custom solution like this and compare it to the SQL Server built in solution, Change Data Capture.

About Tim: Tim Venditti currently works as a Database Software Engineer for the Prism Group who specializes in corporate contracting software solutions for the airline industry. Prior to joining the Prism Group, Tim has spent over 13 years providing database solutions across industries like manufacturing, medical services, mortgage lending, pharmaceuticals, and software. Tim has worn many hats over the years and has played the role of DBA, Database Developer, Data Warehouse Architect, Database Analyst and Database Consultant.
